Youth Debate at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College will proudly host the 2nd Windward Islands Debating Competition (WIDC), under the patronage of His Excellency the Governor General, Sir Frederick Ballantyne. The competition will take place among the four Community Colleges in the Windward Islands, Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) from St Lucia, Dominica State College, T. A. Marryshow Community College from Grenada, and our very own St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College. The debate happens on March 2nd – 3rd at the Lecture Theatre 2 at the Villa Campus commencing at 9:00 am each day.

The debate topics are as follows:

Semi Final Topics:

  1. The perpetual heavy reliance on tourism by Caribbean countries as an economic driver is unwise.
  2. There should be fixed terms (in office) for Prime Ministers in the OECS countries.

Topic for Finals:

" The lack of good governance in the Caribbean is more debilitating to the sustainable development than the likely impacts of Climate Change."
