The department of Business and General Studies offers the following Associate Degree programmes:

 

AAS Business Studies

An Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Studies is designed for people who are looking for the knowledge and skills to enter the business world or to matriculate to higher degrees. Prospective students may choose to specialize in Sales and Marketing or Accounting. This programme prepares students for the many positions in the public and private sectors. Students will acquire knowledge and skills in the field of Accounting, Marketing, Economics, Information Technology, Law and other areas critical to operating in today’s business environment.

Accounting Specialisation

  •  A minimum of five (5) CSEC (CXC) General Proficiency passes (Grades I, II or III) or their equivalent including:

AAS in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management

The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management is designed to give students a basic understanding of entrepreneurship and an introduction to various aspects of small business management. Students entering this programme are expected to develop and produce a business plan as part of the requirements for graduation. This business plan is expected to be used as a pathway to starting up their small business enterprise. There is no industrial attachment for this programme.

Entry Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) CSEC (CXC) General Proficiency passes (Grades I, II or III) or their equivalent including English A (Language).
  • A business subject, foreign language or experience in a small business would be an asset.
