2019 QuickCash Corp SVGCC Road Relay Results

Year Two DASGS, with students who were members of the 2018 Year One winning teams, dominated the 2019 QuickCash Corp. SVGCC Inter-Divisional Road Relay, when it ran off on Tuesday March 19th 2019. The seasoned second year athletes at the Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies (DASGS) copped the top spot in both the male and female divisional relays.

Year Two DASGS won the male division, in a smashing new record time of 48 minutes 54.47 seconds. The Year Two DASGS unit made up of Javiel Saxon, Simeon Greene, Khanroy Marshall, Troy Archibald, Arnel Horne and Kareem Harry ran only the first leg in the second spot, before Marshall transformed the race in his team’s favour, taking the lead early after the first change over, a lead they maintained from that point onward.

Year One Division of Technical and Vocational Education (DTVE) came in second in a time of 52 minutes 05.06 seconds, while Year Two DTVE, placed third in 52 minutes 10.62 seconds.

In the female divisional Road Relay, Year Two DASGS are the new female champions, as they ran away from the pack to take the top honors from start to finish. Keifer Bailey, Tamara Woodley, Rachel Dalton, Gabrielle Benn, Shanyah Peters and Kelsey Marshall combined to complete the event in another new record time of 1 hour 7 minutes, 17.17 seconds, eclipsing the record set in 2018 of 1 hour, 8 minutes, 44.24 seconds. The Division of Nursing Education (DNE), went one better than in 2018, placing second in 1 hour, 20 minutes, 28.55 seconds, while Year One DASGS placed third in 1 hour, 21 minutes, 29.19 seconds.

The St. Vincent and the Grenandies Community College Inter-Divisional sporting activities will culminate next week. On Monday 25th March 2019, the College will stage its 2019 QuickCash Corp National Lotteries Track and Field Heats, while the Track and Field Finals will be staged on Friday March 29th.
