History of SVGCC
Four Divisions - One College
In 2005, the four divisions of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) were officially amalgamated into a single, self-governing entity. Prior to this, the divisions functioned as separate, distinct colleges, each governed by St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Ministry of Education. As part of the government’s thrust towards universal access to education, the four colleges were merged into one institution and given the statutory mandate to be autonomous of government management.
To date, the college is home to over 2000 students and is still undergoing a period of growth and development. There are new buildings being constructed in order to house the growing student population; the college’s programmes are ever-expanding and each new academic year sees something new offered; the lecturers at the college are exposed to an ever-rising array of professional development opportunities; the outreach sector of the college is under constant expansion in order that every Vincentian is able to access our services.
